I first became interested in the role ceremony plays in our lives in 2003 when my father passed from life. I felt fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to eulogize him at the funeral. I spent a lot of time in the following years thinking about ceremony. Our actions and processes as a community influences the individual in their work of making sense while going through major events in life. Either the ceremony helps or it doesn't.
I came to believe deeply in the positive power a well held ceremony could have.
In 2010 I became ordained as a Universal Life Minister which allows me to legally solemnize marriages in the State of Wisconsin. I went through the Celebrant Institute Wedding Certificate program in 2012 to become a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant and in 2015 I joined the Humanist Society to become a Humanist Celebrant. I am also a wife and mother of two. I love to sew, knit, and weave, to garden, forage, and cook, and to go for long walks and sleep outside.Â
